Our engineering, technical purchasing, and sales teams are located in our Plymouth, MI office fully supporting regional customers and providing local support for global projects. The production facilities in Florence, KY and Queretaro, Mx manufactures and administers products for the NAFTA region.
Perform the assembly, tuning and fitment of mechanical components, assemblies and tools to ensure delivery to internal and external customer. Ensure that customer requirements are met and ensure quality of workmanship for products manufactured within the department by performing the following duties.
Tasks
- Follow written specifications, bills of material, drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions to assemble and function test electric powered steering systems.
- Follow written specifications, bills of material, drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions to assemble additional prototype products developed in NA region for internal testing purposes.
- Meet required build schedule and proactively escalate any concern or delay.
- Assemble, tune and control products using typical hand tools and product specialized machinery and tools (I.E. presses, test bench).
- Suggest improvement ideas for work procedures for fabricating new products.
- Ensure proper documentation of every single step of the assembly process
- Inspect and ensure quality of all stages of the assembly process
- Maintain product quality standards
- Support with Quality Inspections for gears manufactured in other plants and delivered to the final customer by Ply location
- Must follow all Health and Safety regulations
- Maintain Bosch 8S and cleanliness
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 3 years' experience in manufacturing and/or comparable technical education preferred
- Familiarity with design and technical features of mechanical and electronic products
- Ability to read and comprehend engineering blueprints
- Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook software and capability of learning other software packages (Ex: SAP and Test Software)
- Solid problem solving and analytical skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Aptitude to manage multiple responsibilities
Preferred Skills
- Using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to read technical drawings
- Using Bill Of Materials (BOMs) in order to determine part content of assemblies or test samples
- Solid interpersonal, communications and listening skills
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Ability to work in a laboratory and manufacturing assembly environment, which could include standing for the majority of the day.
- Responsibilities include the need to lift, carry, push, and pull material weighing up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis.
