Summary
Musician to provide music for Fort Bragg Protestant Chapel Services/
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Accompany (play the piano or organ) or direct musical selections during designated regular worship services including accompany singing of hymns, choruses, and spiritual songs; choral response, anthems, and special music that enhances the atmosphere of worship for the particular congregation.
- Accompany regular choir rehearsals: (play the piano or organ) or direct accompaniment for choir/worship team rehearsals.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Musician shall be able to read and play traditional, contemporary, and new age music according to the religious services being rendered. Each musician shall demonstrate musical proficiency on the piano or organ.
- Musician shall be knowledgeable of and be able to apply liturgical and contemporary music norms of the Protestant tradition in preparation for worship and/or Special Services for the specific Chapel tradition in which they will perform.
- Musician shall be knowledgeable of and conversant with developments in Protestant music both liturgical and contemporary for the specific Chapel tradition of the congregation.
Education and/or Experience
- Musician shall have at least one (1) year of chapel worship services experience and a minimum of two (2) written references for performing worship music services.
- Musician without experience in a worship setting may be considered if the criteria for references and musical abilities can be met.
