We specialize in creating distinguished works of art from our fabrication of architectural metal, millwork, and stone. Our projects include stairways, railings, canopies, millwork, casework, stone and quartz. Ornamental metals include steel cold and hot roll, bronze/brass, stainless steel and aluminum.

Job Purpose:

The Project Engineer is responsible for the full execution of the Metal drawings using the Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. Individuals must be well organized, process-driven, ability to work within a budgeted amount of time and meet the deadlines, and have an eye for details. The Detailing Engineer must be proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and BlueBeam, as well as other necessary software systems to fulfill the role. This individual must be a team player with the ability to collaborate with a variety of people/positions to resolve issues for the success of the project.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Creates detailed shop drawings per the contract documents and provides Architectural Drawings
  • Works closely with the Engineering Manager, Shop Manager, Project Manager, and others to ensure that project detailing in done in detail and per the design intent
  • Accounts for budget hours as quoted by sales to ensure completion of shop drawings in a timely manner
  • Seeks ways to expedite drawing time without sacrificing quality or accuracy
  • Attends Kick Off meetings to ensure complete understanding of project scope and timelines
  • Reviews contract drawings thoroughly to understand expectations and question any discrepancies
  • Maintains and organizes drawings in job file per Tate Standards
  • Uploads As-Built sets to BlueBeam and PlanGrid as needed
  • Identifies and questions items that are out of scope and/or different from contract documents
  • Reviews project specs and ensure we are drawing the current sets
  • Understands all AWI certified standards
  • Works directly under the Engineering Manager
  • Reviews take offs to ensure proper material amounts are being recognized
  • Reviews building practices with Shop Managers and Builders
  • Provides feedback for the betterment of the TOP program
  • Collaborates with Engineering Team to review new procedures and/or current issues
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to collaborate on a team

Education and Experience:

  • Associates in Mechanical Drafting or Computer Science, preferred.
  • AutoCAD Certification with ornamental fabrication experience, highly desirable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting or standing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
