Position Summary:
The Project Engineer position is a hands-on technical engineering role that will develop and implement various projects designed to drive continuous improvements and cost savings throughout the company. The Project Engineer’s primary focus will be in the following functional areas:
· Scope of Work Development
· Project Design
· Project Management
· Capital Budgeting
· Preventive Maintenance
· Safety
The Project Engineer must be analytical, organized, and have the ability to communicate with personnel at all levels in the organization. The Project Engineer must also be willing to spend time on the floor of our refractory manufacturing facilities. A hands-on, self-motivated individual who is focused on process improvement throughout the organization is ideal for this role.
The Current Team: Job Reports To:
· Manager of Corporate Initiatives and Engineering
Essential Functions:
· Lead the project development process for new projects
· Work in tandem with operations to define project scopes
· Work with Purchasing to ensure costs are developed properly
· Develop the justification for the project including the ROI, NPV and effect on OEV
· Take complete ownership of the project once it has been approved, including the following aspects:
o Project Design
o Project Schedule
o Equipment and Contractor Selection
o Project Budget
· Work with Director of Engineering to develop and maintain capital spending budget
· Work with Finance to maintain spending forecast of capital expenses.
Additional Responsibilities:
· Assist plants with Preventive Maintenance system by analyzing metrics to help identify cost savings and projects for improvement.
· Support the Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.
· Drive continuous improvements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Other Attributes:
· 3+ years Engineering experience in industrial and manufacturing environments
· BS in Electrical, Mechanical of Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
· Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation (Single lines, P&IDs, GAs)
· Familiarity with latest OSHA/MSHA safety requirements
· Project management experience
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to communicate technical topics to others without technical backgrounds
· Eagerness to be hands-on in a manufacturing environment
· Ability to be flexible and handle multiple projects at one time
Preferences:
· Hydarulics Experience
· Controls experience
· Previous refractory experience
· Previous hydraulic pressing experience
· Previous crushing and grinding experience
· Capital estimating experience
Work Requirements:
· Engineer must be willing to work on the factory floor. These environments are dirty and dusty.
Travel Requirements:
· Travel to plants is necessary approximately 50%. No international travel required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
