Beowulf Electricity & Data is seeking a dynamic professional to join Beowulf E&D accounting team as a Project Accountant. The Project Accountant is responsible for managing assigned administrative and accounting aspects of a portfolio of projects in a professional and knowledgeable manner. The project accountant is responsible for keeping both administration and management informed, on a timely basis, of the status of projects. In addition, the project accountant is responsible for other various assignments as required by management.
The Project Accountant will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
- Should have the background to assist with special projects to include but not limited to:
- Assisting with accounting due diligence on new acquisitions
- Apply purchase accounting standards for new acquisitions
- Perform accounting analysis on nonrecurring and complex transactions
- Assist is providing financial analyses in support of company initiatives
- Familiar with external financial reporting and required disclosures
- Proficient with accounting research
- Implementation of new accounting standards
- Review contracts, debt agreements, amendments, and purchase agreements to summarize and ensure compliance to all terms
- Familiar with various aspects of insurance (applications, premium financings, handling claims and renewals)
- Contract responsibilities include:
- Initial interpretation, execution, and adherence to terms in contracts
- Review agreements and propose applicable accounting standards.
- Knowledgeable in 401 K administration to include:
- Consultation on initial plan design
- Preparation of Summary Plan Description for participants and beneficiaries
- Approval of transactions (loans, distributions, etc.)
- Monitoring compliance with plan rules and federal regulations
- Discrimination testing and audit support
- Compliance filing (Form 5500, Safe Harbor notices, Form 1099-R)
- Preparation of annual financial statements for the 401K plan.
- The project accountant is ever mindful in the performance of their job responsibilities of adherence to company policies and generally accepted accounting principles
· OTHER ACCOUNTABILITIES:
o Additional responsibilities, on an as needed basis, can include, but are not limited to:
o Account analysis, general ledger, cash, prepaid expense, fixed asset, and accrual accounting.
o Requests from both internal and external auditors.
o Special projects as assigned.
o Various assignments as requested by management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Office Environment
- Hybrid work environment- ability to work one day per week remotely.
- Office location at either our Easton, MD or Washington, DC offices.
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Self-motivated and ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office programs and accounting and financial reporting software, and related peripheral systems
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, and exercise discretion and independent judgment

Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
