Job description
The Program Manager at Catholic Charities’ Family Resource Center at McGruder develops or assists in development of establishing holistic community-embedded programs of support for individuals and families, develops or assists with defining standards for such programs, forms working relationships with essential partners, and implements cohesive program of services for clients, which span the spectrum of basic needs to self-sustainability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
1. Oversee comprehensive programs for clients seeking assistance at McGruder.
2. Recommends staffing requirements when necessary and ensures a balanced workload is maintained.
3. Hires, trains, and conducts performance appraisals of staff under direct supervision according to agency guidelines and established personnel policies, and reviews performance appraisals of all subordinate departmental staff conducted by their supervisor.
4. Supervises, coordinates, and monitors the activities of program staff, ensuring that all department requirements are met in accordance with appropriate program guidelines, agency policies, and procedures.
5. In collaboration with the Executive Director, develops and regularly reviews the operating budget of the program, and assists in preparation of following year’s budget.
6. Prepares written reports as required by all service contracts and ensures that such contracts are executed in accordance with the policies and procedures mandated by the funding source(s).
7. Authorizes check requests, manages revenue and expenses to ensure program viability, and ensures expenditures are appropriate for each grant program.
8. Reviews and approves invoices submitted to funding sources.
9. Monitors changing community needs and integrates that knowledge into program development.
10. Evaluates program effectiveness and recommends changes.
11. Ensures that all departmental records, reports, and documentation are maintained.
12. Analyzes and reports on program activities on a monthly and quarterly basis.
13. Assists operations in oversight of the McGruder Middle School facility.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides direct supervision of program coordinator(s) and Family Resource Center at McGruder staff.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of management/supervisory experience.
2. Knowledge/experience in the field of program development, community partnerships, nonprofit management
3. Knowledge/experience with benefit programs/social service programs for residents of Nashville and surrounding counties.
OTHER SKILLS
1. Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially for supervision and to convey knowledge
2. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
3. Strong organizational and customer service skills
4. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
5. Detail oriented
6. Exercises good judgment
7. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
8. Shows initiative and works well independently with minimal supervision
9. Ability, interest, and willingness to work with diverse staff and clients
