POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Program Manager

DEPARTMENT: Program Management

REPORTS TO: General Manager of Business Development

FLSA / SALARY BAND: Exempt – Salary

Position Summary

Program Manager is the main customer contact for new model launch and change point activity. Assuring that all project requirements are completed to schedule. The Program Manager will also create and/or manage the schedule for internal change points. Leading meetings, discussions, and working directly with all departments to assure that all tasks are completed to schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety rules and ISO requirements
  • Assure that work practices are in the guidelines of OSHA standards
  • Ensure personal and team members in your department are aware and understand the ISO 14001 and ISO/IATF (includes ISO 9001) standards, and company policies and procedures
  • Enforces the Murakami Launch Gate System
  • Develop and monitor Program / Project master schedules
  • Participate actively in the planning and designing of programs, and also in monitoring their progress
  • Develop back-up/recovery plans in the case of unplanned setbacks in project delivery
  • Facilitate and ensure effective communication amongst functional bodies/representatives, that is, between top management team and individual project managers, and also make sure that the information/directives being passed down are diligently carried out
  • Make sure that there is effective allocation of common resources amongst the individual projects under the program
  • Manage the dependency of individual projects on each other to avoid mix-ups or duplication of projects
  • Manage all forms of risk that may hinder the progress of on-going projects
  • Main customer contact and window person for launch activities
  • Working directly with customer launch team on open items, schedules, and ensuring all customer requirements are completed to schedule
  • All other task that may be assigned by management

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • A bachelor’s degree in any management course/field; MSC is preferred
  • Good leadership skills are required to carry out this role effectively. A program manager must be able to show his/her ability when it comes to leading and managing of people
  • Bilingual with Japanese, Spanish, and English is preferred
  • Experience with Toyota, Subaru, Honda preferred
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are very crucial for a program manager to have. This is vital in ensuring that there is a smooth flow of activities within a company and avoidance of conflicts
  • Good knowledge of project management methods
  • Ability to effectively complete tasks within a timely manner and meet deadlines
  • Ability to find ways of solving problems
  • Ability to manage time and meet/beat deadlines
  • Good analytical skills are also needed to be able to solve daily work issues
  • Ability to work in a team or be a team player
  • Ability to see projects from start to finish, and identify, and communicate possible risks

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The Team Member is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Team Member must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. Must be able to work in warm temperature environment on a daily for extended periods
