As a Profit Protection Independent Contractor, you will be responsible for conducting a range of duties to establish and report factual information based on the client's needs.
Location - this is a remote role, must reside in the US and be able to travel 25-50% based on projects.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct investigations into potential violations of federal or state statutes, including but not limited to violent crimes, financial crimes, organized and conspiratorial activity, and egregious civil rights violations. Also investigate suspected violations of company policies and procedures.
- Review incident reports and formal complaints to identify areas requiring investigation.
- Conduct forensic interviews with victims, witnesses, and suspects to gather information and evidence.
- Obtain and analyze evidence, including reviewing and preserving video footage.
- Write detailed case reports to document findings and recommendations.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with client leadership to support investigations and share insights and recommendations.
- Track investigation progress and hours worked, submitting a monthly timesheet and investigation tracker.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies on appropriate cases to ensure successful outcomes.
- Conduct background checks on individuals or organizations to support investigations.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity throughout investigations, ensuring all information is properly secured and managed.
- Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in the field of investigation.
- Testify in court as needed and prepare reports and other materials for use in legal proceedings.

- Communicates effectively and professionally through both written and verbal channels, including the ability to draft clear and concise reports and presentations.
- Demonstrates proficiency in using relevant technology, such as Microsoft Word and related software, and has the ability to quickly adapt to new tools and platforms.
- Possesses exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills and is able to identify and analyze complex information to develop effective strategies and solutions.
- Listens actively to others and takes their perspectives into account when making decisions.
- Exhibits keen social awareness, including the ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrates strong organizational and time-management skills, with a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.
- Maintains confidentiality and discretion throughout investigations, ensuring the proper handling and management of sensitive information.
- Possesses strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with others and to build effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience conducting investigations in the public or private sector, with a proven track record of success.
- Demonstrated expertise in conducting forensic interviews with victims, witnesses, and suspects, and the ability to elicit reliable and relevant information.
- Experience with a range of investigation techniques and methodologies, including data analysis, evidence collection, and case management.
- Certified Forensic Interviewer designation is highly desirable or other relevant certifications or training in investigation, law enforcement, or a related field.
The hourly pay for this role is between $40,00 to $50,00 and is a 1099 role. Offers will be determined based on your experience, skills, training, certifications and education, while also considering internal equity and market data.
