JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, performs assigned activities required to fold clean flatwork articles such as towels, sheets and spreads in a flatwork ironer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receives clean flatwork articles and classifies mend-over and wash-over articles in designated manner.
• Examines flatwork articles for stains, tears or other imperfections.
• Sets up, activates and adjusts assigned machine controls according to appropriate specifications.
• Cleans and maintains assigned machines using cleaning solutions and lubricants.
• Operates assigned machines to fold and press flatwork articles such as sheets and spreads.
• Feeds articles into feeder belt which carries them into the machine.
• Receives small articles from machine and folds, sorts and stacks on table or in carts.
• Catches end of large articles and folds to size to store on shelves.
• Forwards finished articles to appropriate location for additional processing.
• Ensures quality control procedures are followed with every step in the assigned process.
• Responsible to wear all the safety equipment defined in the area and to work with all the precaution and safe behavior.
• Must report any unsafe act, equipment, procedure and accident to his production supervisor.
• Fill out the production log related to the area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience using industrial flatwork ironer
• Machine operation experience in similar environment preferred
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to communicate verbally with superiors and co-workers
• Ability to understand verbal instructions
• Ability to work well with superiors and co-workers
• Self-motivated

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Employee constantly works in a commercial laundry facility with a heavy amount of noise and activity. Overtime may be required as necessary.
