Job description

We are looking for a motivated Production Supervisor on our weekend shift to drive change and help in creating a positive and safe work environment. In this role, you will oversee employees in a manufacturing environment including Weld, Brake Press, General Labor, Assembly, and Laser operations. The Production Supervisor plans and assigns work and will support continuous improvement efforts while meeting or exceeding production objectives.

1st Shift Hours: Monday - Friday, 5:00am - 3:00PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise employees which may involve assigning work to each employee, assisting with laying out the assignments, interpreting drawings, assisting with machine set-ups, and solving unusual or complex production problems.
  • Forecast department labor requirements and make hiring decisions.
  • Reviews processes and departmental layout to assure lowest production costs and highest shop labor efficiency.
  • Interviews, hires and trains shop work force to meet production demands.
  • Review performance and recommend merit/promotional increases with wage policy, resolve employee problems and administers discipline within the corporate guidelines, labor times review, and employee status change paperwork.
  • Monitoring of production to ensure the customer requirements for quantity and quality are fully met.
  • Completion of various production reports and the analysis of efficiency, scrap, downtime, and more related data to pinpoint areas of potential improvement.
  • Ensure compliance to productivity, quality and health and safety standards.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects.
  • Enforces and administers all safety policies, conducts safety training and investigates and reports accidents.
  • Ensure employees are trained properly to do their job and safely.
  • Schedule and conduct monthly department meetings.
  • Maintenance of productions tooling including scheduling of preventative maintenance.
  • Supervise material handler in department.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in Supervision preferred.
  • Strong personal leadership and communication skills resulting in clear and concise communications delivered in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated success in creating and effectively managing team-oriented environment with overall perspective of satisfying customer needs.
  • Thorough knowledge of metal fabrication manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills to develop work plans and execute complex projects.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, handles multiple projects concurrently, and meets project deadlines.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Vantage, knowledge desired, but not required.
  • Ability to understand moderately complex blueprints, and/or specifications, must understand weld symbols in the welding department.
  • Previous quality control (QC) and inspection experience using basic inspection tools at a level to resolve QC problems when a part does not meet specifications.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing based business systems, MRP techniques, and time based competition and quality strategies and principles such as Lean manufacturing, six Sigma, ISO requirements, etc.
  • Experience with Epicor, ERP system preferred.
  • Experience with ADP for vacation and timecard approvals a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to continuously stand for all or most of a regular work shift, reach above shoulders, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
