Production Manager duties and responsibilities:

-Motivating, supporting, and providing guidance to production staff
-Ensuring all safety and health standards are met to keep an organization accident-free.
-Communicating regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production
-Evaluating machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.
-Establishing a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations.
-Setting productivity goals for each manufacturing team.
Developing workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
-Ensuring adequate scheduling of staff.

FUNCTION SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES:

-Night shift Production Manager oversees the activities of all co-workers involved in the manufacturing of bun, bagel, and cookie products, and of the equipment on the shift. There are three Supervisors reporting directly to the Production Manager. Each department consists of a supervisor and up to 4 Lead Persons, Machine Operators, Packers.

-In addition to co-worker supervision, the incumbent must control productivity to meet or exceed product output standards while minimizing scrap and conforming to customer quality standards. The incumbent works directly with the Quality Assurance department and assures all factors controlling the automatic process and determining final quality are strictly followed. The incumbent takes corrective action when periodic case count checks show productivity below established levels, determines the cause of the productivity loss, excessive scrap product or packaging materials and assigns appropriate co-workers to correct any non-conformance.

-The Production Manager ensures the supervisor prepares daily shift reports detailing production and manning statistics and ensures the mix sheets, oven reports and finished goods reports are prepared during the shift and the scrap is reported accurately. The incumbent also assures that all information recorded on all required documents is accurate and legible.

-The Production Manager ensures the proper training of all new plant employees in job duties and plant rules. To ensure that production does not suffer during absences or heavy production periods, the incumbent continually cross trains appropriate co-workers so that there is adequate back-up of all positions.

-The Production Manager will make recommendations for procedure modification, equipment modifications and manning, as they relate to the productivity of the facility.

-May be called upon for additional duties which relate to his or her area.

-The Production Manager must deal with immediate personnel problems and any first aid requirements on the shift. Must be capable of working with minimal direct supervision and have strong demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and self-initiative skills.

-Completes and approves routine, daily paperwork, ensuring proper documentation and company policies are followed in an accurate and timely manner. Inspect all production records for accuracy.

-Schedules labor, documents/approves employee time and attendance records, adjusts daily work schedule as needed to meet production requirements.

RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

-3 plus years of experience in a high production environment. 2 years’ experience in food manufacturing, with 2 years of managerial experience.

-High energy level required.

-Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential. Prefer individual HACCP/GMP/BRC training

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
