The client is commercializing cutting-edge extractive metallurgy technology that will revolutionize primary metals production by improving metal quality while decreasing cost and lowering environmental impact. This fast-paced startup company is looking for a Principal Process Engineer to join its Plant Systems team to facilitate the development of metallurgical plant systems for new high-temperature electrolysis cells for the production of tonnage molten metals and alloys.
Duties will include working with a small team of engineers focused on the design and commissioning of the balance of plant systems to support the production of molten metal in new Molten Oxide Electrolysis (MOE) cells. This person will be a technical leader & contributor, mentor other team members and provide subject matter expertise to the team.
Additional duties may include interfacing with industrial partners (such as EPCs) and equipment vendors.
Experience:
10-15 years working in process engineering role(s). Relevant industries include chemical production, metal smelting or recycling, as well as other similar industries that require complex plant design and operation. Experience in designing and architecting high-temperature exhaust and pollution control systems is especially prized. MS Degree (or PhD) from accredited university or college in one or more of the following areas: Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science or Process Engineering.

- Mass and energy balance modeling
- PFD and P&ID development
- Plant layout
- Process control philosophy
- Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) development
- Data collection and analysis
- Process simulation and deployment
- Bulk Materials processing/handling
- Exhaust systems
- Experience with high-temperature processes >1000°C
- Experience working in small teams & start-up atmosphere
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $70,166.16 - $149,269.13 per year
