Upland Capital Group is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to build and support our Data Platform and Analytics. The Principal Data Engineer will design, engineer, and implement architectures to support advanced data/analytics solutions and enrich data in the platform, creating data pipelines for a wide variety of internal and external data types and ensuring the quality and consistency of current and future data flows.

The role will consult with business units and technology partners to determine the most effective technology utilization and designs to meet and help evolve our data objectives. Daily activities include applying data management and architecture expertise in developing engineering solutions and advanced analytics solution design, including reporting technology; articulate tradeoffs, strengths, and weaknesses of various architectures and their components to determine the best design given use cases and constraints. The role will Identify internal and external data sources for potential integration into the data and application platforms, lead data migration and integration projects, create appropriate standards and processes to ensure quality and consistency of data in the platform, help and assist with outlining best practices and establish standards for data strategy, data lifecycle, data ownership, data definition, and data classification. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with stakeholders and advanced analytics business partners to understand business needs and to identify and define advanced analytics solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• 10 plus years of experience with information technology programs and services, with demonstrated expertise in enterprise data management and related technologies
• Working knowledge of data architectures, data pipelines, real-time data processing, streaming, networking, and security
• Advanced knowledge of big data querying tools
• Experience with SQL, Python, Docker Hub (Compose, Containers), ANT, GIT, Gradle, Maven, Spring and/or equivalent technologies
• Experience working in an agile, DevSecOps environment
• Working understanding of AI/machine learning
• Working experience with Application Programming Interfaces (API), Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), web services, enterprise data management, information security, applications development, and cloud native architectures
• Experience researching new technologies that align with business strategy and improve the user experience
• Experience communicating to both technical and business audiences
• Ensuring application security through secure systems development life cycle (SSDLC)
• Exceptional problem solving / analytical thinking and skills
• Teamwork and collaboration skills
• Attention to detail and the ability to be proactive, prudent, and confident in pressure situations are a must
