Job description
A company located in Newark, New Jersey is currently seeking a Principal Accountant in a long term contract role. The Principal Accountant will be involved with handling day-to-day accounting operations of account set up, creating payroll payment reversals, manual check replacements, as well as weekly and monthly interfacing of files to A/P. The Principal Accountant will ensure the withholding of deductions from employee pay are following federal, state, and local regulations. The Principal Accountant will be responsible for all pension related payments, reporting, and deductions. - Bachelor's degree in accounting OR five years of applied accounting experience preferably in Payroll
- Well-founded grasp of bi-Monthly Payroll
- Command of Special Payroll Deductions
- Knowledge of computerized Payroll systems
- Pensions experience preferred
- Good understanding of Local Payroll Tax
- Solid understanding of Payroll Taxes
- Wide ranging experience with Payroll Tax Reporting
- Practical knowledge of Full Cycle Payroll
- Efficient in ERP systems
- Discoverer or Orbit report write experience a plus
