Job description
The Practical Lab Assistant provides clinical expertise in all aspects of the Paramedic educational curriculum during lab practicals. The Practical Lab Assistant is responsible for observing all skills of the students and providing feedback and instruction. The Practical Lab Assistant reports to the Paramedic Lead Instructor and Program Director. The Practical Lab Assistant creates and provides documentation in the cognitive, psychomotor and affective domain.
The Massasoit Community College Paramedic Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide feedback including documentation to students and faculty to assess student progress.
- Establish relationships with other Instructors and students that supports, nurtures and encourages the EMS education that is being provided.
- Utilize and care for equipment including return to storage area at completion of session.
- Attend staff meetings and training as required.
- Observe and follow universal precautions.
- Follow Massasoit Community College policies and procedures.
- Follow CoAEMSP guidelines. Ensure students receive education as described by National Education Standards and scope of practice.
- Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.
Job Requirements:
- Must be Nationally Certified/Massachusetts State certified at level at which they are teaching.
- Associate degree or higher.
- Must be knowledgeable in course content.
- Must be effective in teaching assigned subject.
- Be capable through academic preparation, training and experience to teach topics assigned.
COVID VACCINATION REQUIREMENT: Candidates for employment should be aware that all Community College students, faculty, and staff are required to be fully vaccinated by January 2022. Accordingly, initial employment is dependent upon receipt and verification of full vaccination status records; details of how to fulfill vaccine record verification requirements will be provided during the hire and onboarding process.

Position Status: Part-time, non-benefitted position
Hours: Approximately 8 hours per week
Pay rate: $50.00 per hour
Worksite: Middleborough campus, (travel to other instructional sites may be requested)
