Job description
The Planning Control Manager is responsible for all aspects of inventory management including the allocation/production capacity and material management activities and in supporting execution activities to meet the needs of Harbison Walker International customer base, internal and external. The Planning Control Manager is actively involved in the training and development of plant personnel regarding activities related to the management of raw material and finished goods inventory along with attaining key metrics to meet the needs of HWIs effective business performance surrounding On-Time to Promise / On-Time to Request (OTP/OTR), inventory management, schedule attainment and in meeting the needs of both internal and external customer base as it relates to planning and scheduling.Responsibilities
Collaborating with customer service, demand planning and plant personnel to coordinate efforts in meeting customer demand; Receiving and reviewing customer orders and developing and maintaining production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements
Managing finished goods inventory including attaining key metrics such as cycle count accuracy, physical inventory accuracy and Days on Hand (DOH); Leading the annual physical inventory to achieve stock accuracy
Improving finished goods inventory through management of onsite and external warehouse inventory; Collaborating with demand planning and sales to optimize made to stock items
Creating and implementing a systematic rework process and managing scrap and rejects; Collaborating with sales and marketing to promote and find outlet for weighting product of good quality
Supporting the HarbisonWalker Business System (HBS) in attaining key metrics such as on time to deliver, delivery sales target and operational excellence; Completing daily/weekly/monthly reporting on critical process control measures to sustain ongoing process integrity
Overseeing cycle count program, ensuring corporate procedures are followed
Collaborating with accounting to ensure Bill of Material (BoM) are correct and new item routings are within operating systems to achieve key pricing; Structuring and ensuring year cost rolls are completed
Requirements
The Planning Control Manager requires six plus (6+) years delivering high impact results in supply chain, inventory, scheduling and shipping and three plus (3+) years in a manufacturing environment..
B.S. degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word and Excel
Experience in working towards Lean production
MRP knowledge and ERP experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment desirable.
Experience leading inventory management planning performance metrics: Raw Material and finished goods inventory levels, customer service levels, Cycle count accuracy, On-Time Delivery, Day’s on Hand, Physical Inventory, Delivery sales targets preferred
Requires strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to quickly find common ground and solve problems in the best interest of HWI.
