Our family is growing! we are looking for a Pile Buck (Pile driver) who is experienced in the installation of all size and dimensions of piles; including sheet, pipe and H pile. Pile Bucks are a valued member of our Piling and Shoring tight-knit team. It’s a respected position and wears many different hats (Pile Driver, rigger, welder, heavy equipment operator, driller, etc.).
We’re looking for someone with firm knowledge of differing soil types and their impact on the work performed and who understands pile plans and survey and is able to layout a job site to specifications.
Responsibilities
Pile Buck responsibilities and abilities include but are not limited to the list below.
- Read, understand, interpret and enforce safety policies and practices.
- Examines blueprints to determine dimensions of structure and jobsite layout.
- Lays out worksite as needed.
- Determines sequence of activities concerned for piling installation.
- Assigns workers to daily tasks and manages production.
- Provide signals to cranes, forklifts, and other heavy equipment
- Drive pilings for retaining walls, bulkheads, and foundations of structures, such as buildings, bridges, and piers
- Effectively position and operate power hammers to drive pilings
- Should be able to perform all essential duties and responsibilities of a Welder
- Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
- Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
- Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
- Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, or stick arc welding equipment.
- Clean, lubricate, and refill equipment.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Drive pilings to provide support for buildings or other structures, using heavy equipment with a pile driver head.
- Move hand and foot levers of hoisting equipment to position piling leads, hoist piling into leads, and position hammers over pilings.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in tele-handler or rough-terrain forklift operation
- 4+ years of experience working with cranes
- 4+ years of experience working with, maintaining and inspecting pile hammers, leads, lifting cables, and slings.
- 4+ years of experience in welding and cutting
- 3+ year of being 3G & 4G certified for welding (Stick, wire)
- Ability to lift at least 75 lbs
- Crane Certifications is a plus
- Must have demonstrated experience in a variety of pile types and dimensions including sheet, pipe and h-pile.
- Must possess a proven knowledge of pile hammers, vibrating hammers and cranes.
