Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections (DPS&C) / Raymond Laborde Correctional Center (RLCC) is currently seeking a FULL-TIME Medical Director to serve as a coordinator for medical services. JOB CONCEPTS:
The Medical Director is responsible for leading the medical department for the DPS&C in the development and evaluation of standards of healthcare throughout the department. This position is responsible for ensuring efficient operations, maintaining qualified staff in the medical clinic, developing and implementing policies as well as providing directives relative to the medical clinic. Additionally, the Medical Director maintains an adequate infection control program to ensure the clinic is meeting or exceeding the standards set by the Louisiana State Board.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
- Interacts with facility wardens, facility medical staff and others to develop, approve, and evaluate medical policies for the department.
- Provides guidance for standards of practice for clinical services related to chronic disease, infection control, activities.
- Works closely with the facilities to coordinate specialty off site health care for the offender population.
- Works with LDH / Medicaid to provide oversight for DOC on Medicaid enrollment for the offender population.
- This position will provide medical services to offenders incarcerated at the facility.
