Premier Physicians is currently seeking a Full time experienced Phlebotomist for our Ridgepark location.
Our growing group practice encompasses internal and family medicine, medical and surgical specialties, and has comprehensive on-site diagnostic centers conveniently located in the communities we serve in the Cleveland metro area.
Premier Physicians has an open position for a Full time experienced Phlebotomist for our Ridgepark loation.
OVERVIEW: Responsible for procuring and processing clinical specimens obtained from patients for laboratory testing.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares equipment to efficiently collect blood products. Maintains adequate supplies.
- Performs venipuncture, arterial and capillary punctures on patients. Identifies and labels specimens. Conducts laboratory tests on specimens. Enters data into computer.
- Assists donor before, during and after donation. Instructs on urine collection procedures.
- cleans /sterilizes equipment, instruments and work area following safety, cleanliness and infection control procedures.
- Inventories and maintains supplies.
- Clerical duties as assigned by lab manager.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Other duties as assigned by the lab manager.
- The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position.
- Experience/Education:
- High school graduate or GED
- Minimum of one year related work experience, preferably in healthcare.
- CERTIFICATION: ASCP required: MA preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Phlebotomy techniques and procedures.
- Clinic protocols and policies.
- Certain assignments may require a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance and a clean driving record.
- Efficient and effective draws.
- Medical terminology
- Familiar with various lab equipment
- Running lab results
- Communication and customer service. Pleasant interactions with patients, staff and others.
- Abilities:
- Accommodate on-call, week-end and holiday rotations. Some positions may require off-hour assignments.
- Respond appropriately to instructions and requests.
- PHYSICAL/MENTAL: This position is typical of those found in an office setting-an indoor environment with little or no exposure to extremes in temperature, noise, smells, etc. Expected work will require hand dexterity to collect specimens and operate a computer keyboard. Employees will be expected to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, stoop, bend, and routinely lift up to 20 pounds and stand for 5 to 30 minute intervals. Employees may also be required to push or pull wheelchair bound patients averaging 50-250 pounds for 10-75 feet on carpeted or tiled surfaces.

Environmental/ Working Conditions/Physical Demands- Incumbents are exposed on a daily basis to communicable diseases through handling blood, body fluids and tissue samples. This requires that all OSHA and blood borne pathogen regulatory practices and procedures be followed consistently, including the use of PPE and the proper safety measures regarding disposal and cleaning procedures.
