Performance Auditor

The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury is seeking a Performance Auditor to help us protect Tennessee citizens and the programs that serve them by providing objective information about the state's financial condition and the performance of state agencies. As a Performance Auditor within the Division of State Audit, you will conduct an independent audit of the extent to which agencies and state departments are faithfully carrying out their programs and fulfilling their mission.
Also, as a Comptroller employee, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our mission of making government work better and produce meaningful audit work, all while having the time to enjoy life outside of work with our flexible scheduling and 37.5-hour standard work weeks.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Professionally representing the Comptroller’s Office and communicating clearly with auditees and team members.
- Gaining a thorough understanding of an auditee's programs and processes, while gathering documentation and evidence
- Producing logical and well-supported working papers that comply with auditing standards and best practices.
- Demonstrating an understanding of internal control principles and components and their significance to audit objectives.
- Evaluating new technologies to improve audit efficiency while maintaining high audit quality.
- Preparing audit findings, writing audit reports, and developing recommendations that comply with Government Auditing Standards.
- Presenting audit results to the Government Operations Committee.
Qualifications
You are qualified for this position if you meet the following criteria:
- Graduate of an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, political science, public administration, or any other business-related majors
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Microsoft Office
- Valid US driver license
Travel
Overnight travel is limited and dependent upon assignment. Assignments are based on business need, but employee preference for travel is taken into consideration.
