This position requires availability between the hours of 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM as needed on a per diem basis only.Premier non-profit is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse for one of its vastly growing programs. Pathways Strategic Teaching Center is a year- round comprehensive education and treatment program, servicing children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and other related disorders. Founded in 1988 through a collaborative effort between the J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center and local parents of children with autism, Pathways is committed to utilizing scientifically validated teaching methodologies in improving the lives of individuals with ASD and their families.

Pathways education and treatment strategies are based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Individually tailored curricula address speech and language, pre-academic and academic skills, daily living and self-care skills, play and social skills, vocational skills, and assessment & treatment of challenging behavior.The Per Diem Registered Nurse will be responsible for: Protecting the rights and dignities of individuals with developmental disabilities and extending these rights and dignities to family members or guardiansProviding health services to facilitate students optimal physical, mental, emotional, and social growth and development in a school settingEvaluating the physical conditions of students and referring students to appropriate resources as neededProviding first aid care and medically prescribed servicesAssessing injuries of staff and children; treating, documenting, and providing referrals for treatment as neededMedication administration or treatments as well as G-Tube feedingsDeveloping Individual and Emergency Health Care Plans for all children with special health care needs including allergiesAttending IEPs of children with IHCPs and EHCPs to review and update plansAssessing and teaching parents and staff about illnesses, medications, and use of emergency medicationsReviewing, maintaining, and updating health records of children and staffMaintaining security of school health suppliesCommunicable disease identification and notificationsDeveloping policies and procedures related to school healthMonitoring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and policiesProviding staff development on health-related topics as well as participating in orientations, clinical team meetings, and workshopsAssisting with crisis managementArranging coverage for nursing and allied services when necessaryPerforming other duties and job assignments as required by the Coordinator of Health Services or DirectorEducation, Qualifications, and Skills: Qualified to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island and holds an unrestricted licenseCertified in CPRKnowledge of children with autism & related disorders and applied behavior analysis preferredConsiderable knowledge of medical disorders and treatmentKnowledge of child growth and developmentExperience with crisis managementKnowledge of the principles and practices underlying professional nursing and school healthKnowledge of state and local laws relating to health and social issuesValid drivers license, Automobile insurance, and Safe driving recordSuccessful completion of pre-employment physicalOur mission is to promote an enhanced quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities.
