Position Overview:
The Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) at Collaborative Solutions Corporation Intensive Recovery Residences also known as the Second Spring Programs. We provide direct care to our residents in a community recovery setting and provide services that are typically given in a hospital environment. Our residents are coming from the state hospital or other Designated Agencies (DAs) such as WCMHS, Howard Center, or Clara Martin Center and are ready to be in a more independent care facility. We support our clients in their recovery in mental health as well as substance abuse recovery. We are similar to a mental health recovery coach and provide direct care as needed.
These positions are Per Diem and are non-exempt. A Per Diem RSS position can be offered a work schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays based on availability. The shift may vary from a couple of hours up to a 12-hour shift.
These positions are great for individuals interested in working in the human service industry who want to work with persons with serious and persistent mental illness in a recovery-based and trauma-sensitive environment and who can assist in motivating and encouraging individuals toward integration into the community. These positions are also good for students who are looking to get experience in the human service industry. Ideal candidates would be those who are physically active, as well as detail-oriented with excellent observation and communication skills. We love to hire new graduates, veterans, and those who have experience in the field of psychology, social work, and healthcare services.
The Recovery Support Specialist position has a career track built in to further your growth in understanding the clinical care and residential treatment programs. Our RSS position is eligible to grow into a Clinical Paraprofessional (CPP) where you would receive an annual stipend for your company-paid additional training, responsibilities, and resident care. This opportunity is great for those who want to further real working experience and knowledge in the human services field, providing care and social services, or using your background in psychology.
Primary responsibilities:
- Serve as a role model and recovery change agent in the lives of our residents.
- Be intentional with residents and develop meaningful relationships by spending time with and providing direct care support to residents in the community and places of employment.
- Collaborate with teams and residents in creating a treatment plan, that includes residents’ goals.
- You will support the residents in meeting their goals and provide professional support and constructive interactions to promote emotional stability and increase the ability of residents to cope with and adapt to new challenges.
- Assist residents with daily needs including medication, transportation to appointments and events, nutrition, and personal care assistance if needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma (Required)
- Higher education (Recommended)
- Experience working in healthcare (Recommended)
- Direct care in residential facilities (Preferred)
- Prior experience working in mental health (Recommended)
- Valid driver's license (Required if driving Company Vehicles)
Environmental Conditions
Normal office conditions prevail. Sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time. Work at a word/data processing terminal or similar equipment will be required. Potential eyestrain associated with video display terminal. Stress is a factor, as this job involves significant importance, accuracy, and exposure to stressful situations. There will be occasional travel outside the office setting, for which private means of transportation must be available.
