We are seeking a Payroll Specialist for our Alpharetta, GA or Charlotte, NC office. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing and/or reviewing Sompo International’s Canada, Bermuda, and US payroll programs. The current employee group is primarily in the US (2500 employees), with an additional 120 employees spread between Canada and Bermuda. This position will report to the Payroll Manager, North America.

Responsibilities include:

  • Process Bermuda and US semi-monthly payroll using Workday Payroll
  • Process Canada semi-monthly payroll using Ceridian Canada Powerpay
  • Review US, Bermuda, and Canada semi-monthly payroll details using Workday Payroll and Ceridian Canada Powerpay, including ensuring compliance with HR SOX controls
  • Communicate with employees regarding payroll-related matters
  • Prepare quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc payroll-related reports and submissions
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests
  • Assist HRIS team with testing of payroll-related enhancements and reporting
  • Review existing processes for areas to achieve improvements and streamline and/or automate manual tasks
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory changes

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources or related field of study
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in processing US payroll
  • Workday” Payroll experience is desired
  • Accounting or payroll accounting experience preferred
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and work on multiple projects in a high-volume and fast-paced environment
  • Professional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Detail-oriented and analytically minded; Deadline-driven and works well under pressure with a focus on accuracy
  • Strong computer skills including, but not limited to, Excel & Word, Microsoft Office Suite and HR information systems
  • Proven ability to handle and maintain confidential information with discretion
  • Demonstrated dependability and sense of urgency
  • Highly resourceful team-player with the ability to follow processes and procedures

Sompo International offers a competitive compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience. The minimum salary for this position: $75,000.
