Stearns Weaver Miller has an opportunity for a motivated, cheerful, team-oriented Payroll & HR Coordinator to join their Human Resources Department. The HR/ Payroll Coordinator will report to the Senior Payroll and Benefit Specialist and the Director of Human Resources. The candidate will assist with the timely and accurate processing of all payroll functions and will also perform various human resources tasks, but not limited to:.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, input, and process weekly payroll using Firm’s HRIS system (UKG Software) to ensure accurate and timely processing of full cycle payroll for 300+ employees
  • Responsible for weekly payroll balancing, and produce weekly, monthly and year-end payroll and tax reports
  • Reconcile benefits, 401(k) and general ledger accounts relative to payroll
  • Ensure compliance with both internal payroll and HR policies
  • Remain current on all Federal and State regulations related to compensation, FMLA and Workers Compensation matters
  • Maintain information in the HRIS database and Access database
  • Perform employment verifications
  • Responsible to handle the Leave administration (FMLA) and Worker’s Compensation procedures
  • Routinely assisting with matters of highly sensitive or confidential nature, while maintaining discretion
  • Assist with the employee onboarding and off boarding process when needed
  • Assist in writing, reviewing, editing and proofreading Firms policies & procedures, and related documents as needed.
  • Preparation of various payroll and HR reports on an as needed basis
  • Assist with various employee training
  • Assist with the coordination of office events and employee training

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of related payroll experience
    • Experienced in payroll / HRIS software, UKG (preferred)
  • Minimum two years of related human resource experience
  • Ability to work in diverse work environment
  • Able to balance multiple tasks with changing priorities
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Must have a strong understanding of FMLA procedures
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
  • Ability to analyze data related to payroll
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to payroll and HR, ability to research
  • Must have solid computer skills and must be proficient in MS Office
    • Excel skills must be above average
  • Must have excellent written, verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and work collaboratively in a fast paced environment while integrating a high detail of attention to detail, focus and organization
  • Ability to work overtime when needed
