The Payroll Coordinator is responsible to coordinate, implement and maintain payroll activities and information for both Companies SEB Professional North America and Wilbur Curtis. Guarantee total compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Provide support to all employees in their payroll inquiries and run reports that other departments need related to payroll, headcount, overtime, etc.

Essential Functions for Payroll Coordinator

  • Auditing / Processing timesheets
  • Updating payroll records
  • Check payroll information for accuracy and ensure all relevant paperwork is in order
  • Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll – ensuring headcount balances and all adjustments are recorded
  • Run post-payroll reports
  • Process employee/employer contributions to 401k and HSA accounts on a bi-weekly and quarterly basis
  • Coordinate with state agencies to set up tax and unemployment accounts if an employee is hired in a new state
  • Coordinate with HR about changes in payroll (terminations, new hires, etc.)
  • Update data with salary or wage adjustments
  • Process other financial compensations or deductions (annual bonuses, severance pay, taxes, wage garnishments)
  • Produce reports to upper management upon request
  • Answer employee questions or complaints about salaries and payments
  • Work with Groupe SEB and/or external auditors on audits or requests for information
  • Process and disburse weekly and monthly labor reporting
  • Reporting for Corporate related with Headcount and variances

Experience and Education for Payroll Coordinator

  • 3-5 years of proven experience
  • Proficient in MS Office. Comfortable with Excel (functions, data, etc.)
  • Familiarity with payroll processes
  • Working knowledge of payroll systems – UltiPro Preferred, UKG
  • Very familiar with CA Law

  • Flexible to adapt ideas to best support the business and cross-functional teams.
  • Good knowledge of legislation relevant to accounting and payroll (other states as well)
  • An analytical mind with good math skills

  • Bachelor’s degree is a plus

Working conditions and Physical Requirements for Payroll Coordinator

  • Frequently required to use hands, fingers, feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Extensive work on a computer and phone. Walking, sitting, and driving are key components of the job as well.
  • Occasionally required to walk and talk or hear.

Overview for Payroll Coordinator

  • You must be in Southern California.
  • Type of employment: Full-time – Non-Exempt
  • Workplace type: home office remote in Southern California, US. The position may need to travel to Montebello Plant or Tustin Offices for specific pieces of training or meetings.
  • COVID Vaccine policy requirement: Two doses of Moderna or Pfizer or one for J&J or show proof of a negative PCR COVID‐19 test, taken within 48 hours of their onsite visit.
