Job description
The Vermont County Store is currently seeking a Payroll Coordinator. This person will work closely with our Senior Payroll & Benefits Specialist to assist in the accurate processing of our biweekly payroll. Working as part of the HR team, this person will also provide administrative assistance to other areas of HR including benefits, recruiting, workers’ compensation and safety, wellness initiatives, and various other projects.

A Sampling of What You’ll Do
- Support the payroll process from start to finish, including reviewing timesheets, approving change requests, and running reports, while ensuring accuracy and following procedures
- Provide administrative support across all areas of HR
- Answer employee questions related to various HR topics
- Assist with the open enrollment process for our benefit programs
- Support the fast-paced process of hiring including scheduling and coordination of interviews, assisting candidates as needed, and data entry
- Work on a team sharing ideas as both an individual contributor and a supportive team member
Who We’re Looking For
- 1 – 3 years’ experience in an accounting, bookkeeping or administrative role
- Minimum of Associates Degree or relevant work experience
- Strong attention to detail with a knack for numbers
- Comfortable learning new computer programs
- Intermediate Excel skills preferred
- Knowledge of employment laws relevant to state, local, and federal requirements is helpful
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously
- Comfortable with working under strict deadlines for payroll processing
- Maintain flexibility in accepting assignments and direction, each of which can change to meet the needs of the business at any time
- Strong verbal and written communications skills combined with excellent listening skills
- Ability to troubleshoot issues, recommend and implement solutions
- Ability to travel to other VCS locations, work flexible hours and overtime as necessary
