SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the VP of Human Resources and Payroll Administrator, the goal for the Payroll Clerk is to become an additional person of contact that will process all aspects of payroll for all locations in the company. This individual will centralize the payroll process and become an essential part of the payroll and accounting process. The successful candidate will be a capable accounting professional with demonstrated experience in payroll.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Accurately Process Bi-weekly/Weekly payroll for multiple locations in various states using ADP Workforce Now.
- ADP WFN Experience a Must
- Create specialized reporting for management and prepare for internal and external audits.
- Report on any payroll discrepancies and use skills to troubleshoot all issues.
- Handles employees’ inquiries regarding payroll information and be the point person on payroll inquiries
- Maintain records on vacation, sick leave, jury duty, bereavement, etc.
- Process new hires, terminations, salary increases in the payroll system in a timely manner.
- Assist HR/Benefit Operations team with other tasks as needed
- Process manual checks for state-mandated payments, terminations, etc.
- Provide backup support to Payroll Administrator
- Comply with all federal and state wage and hour laws
- Have an ability to work well in a matrix reporting structure and be flexible to shifting priorities
- Provide guidance to staff with any payroll related questions
- Assist the Accounting office with Accounts as needed
- Handle all related state, local documents that affect payrolls such as 3rd party sick pay or Income withholding.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to present oneself in a professional, courteous manner, either by phone or by email.
- Bachelor’s degree required. Accounting is preferred
- 2-5 years of experience in a similar role is required
- Experience with ADP WFN preferred
- Excellent excel skills
- Analytical skills and attention to detail a must
- Deep understanding of the payroll laws and regulations
