Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from college with a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field and two (2) years of responsible work experience in practical bookkeeping or accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Functions:
Accounts Receivable: The Payroll Accountant performs some manual adjustment of receivable accounts; reconciles all patient and third-party receivable accounts monthly; randomly audits patient accounts to check accuracy of charges, payments and adjustments; . Prepares trial balance support documentation for contract revenue accounts and contract AR accounts. Inputs all contract payments and EFT payments in client billing system.
Monitors contract billings: Payroll Accountants prepare billings and reports; maintains current copies of all contracts, billings and schedules for auditors; records receipt payments in billing files; codes payments to appropriate codes; performs other general ledger reconciliations. Researches missing or outstanding payments on billings. Prepares reports for management regarding billing issues and contract balances. Validates data from billing system for accuracy and relevancy prior to billing contracts. Prepares revenue confirmation letters for financial auditors.
A Payroll Accountant reconciles all payments in billing system with bank deposits and cash reconciliation spreadsheet monthly. Reviews daily bank deposit for appropriate non-tx and tx sorting; writes receipts for EFT payments; codes receipts; logs EFT and credit card receipts in cash reconciliation spreadsheet monthly.
Prepare and maintain spreadsheets, files, and trial balance for Housing Contingency Fund loans. Prepare and send statements for HCF loans to clients each month. Work with clients on payment schedules and needs.
Fixed Assets: The Payroll Accountant uses accounting software to maintain capital asset records; assists in performing annual fixed asset inventory. Prepares monthly depreciation report, maintains electronic records, and prepares trial balance support documentation.
Payroll/Personnel Expenses: A Payroll Accountant completes payroll process. Maintains employee leave accruals and records all transactions against leave against authorized programs. Reconciles record within accounting software. Prepares final paychecks corresponding PTO payouts for employees.
Payroll Accountants are responsible for making tax deposits to state and federal agencies each pay period, as well as quarterly reconciliation for the 941 filings. Responds to personnel expense questions from WBH management and others who have a need to know as necessary. Completes the monthly close Journal entry for the payroll cost Accrual. Prepares and submits employee/employer contributions to the Utah State Retirement System (URS).
In conjunction with the cost accountant, assists in preparing personnel expense reports for the annual Medicaid cost report
Prepares a variety of reports/surveys/questionnaires for various state, local, and federal agencies as required. Completes wage garnishments and/or levies. Prepares and issues annual W-2 statements.

Additional Requirements: Employment at Wasatch Behavioral Health is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen, motor vehicle record review and criminal background check. After hire you must complete and receive a Criminal Background Clearance (BCI) from Utah State Office of Licensing. Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment in the position, you must provide an official copy of licensure or certification.
Compensation: $22.11 - $28.01 per hour ~ Depending on experience. Additional compensation available for Spanish speakers, after testing proficiency.
