Position Summary

In general, the Patient Service Rep for Rehab Services completes an efficient and orderly registration and admission process. Other responsibilities may include performing complex scheduling for multiple disciplines within the Rehab department (PT, OT, Speech Language Pathology) and insurance verification of all Rehabilitation outpatients; answering telephones, working closely with therapy professionals, and greeting patients; ensuring that accurate information is collected and that patients are aware of their rights; negotiating patient payment amounts as appropriate; training new employees in the complex, technical aspects of the job and mentor employees; identifying areas for process improvement and developing recommendations for solutions (and may lead implementation of solutions); working through customer service issues to resolution; conducting quantitative / qualitative analysis for the department as identified; and providing department's onsite computer troubleshooting to resolution.

It is critical to have solid telephone skills in this role as duties will include making reminder and follow up calls to patients, as well as calling to cancel appointments if necessary. This role also includes a variety of administrative tasks to support the department such as preparing and mailing out intake forms.

Qualifications

Education

• Associate degree, preferred

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of medical office, or related front desk/reception/customer service experience, is required
• Knowledge of CPT/standard diagnostic codes and insurance/payor requirements, preferred
