The JUSTIN Culinary team is seeking a Pastry Apprentice. In this role, the Pastry Apprentice is responsible for supporting chocolate and pastry production through hands-on work while being mentored and developed by an experienced Pastry team. A successful apprentice should have a desire to learn fundamentals of pastry and is detail oriented. This person must be very organized, must be comfortable working in a high-pressure environment and must reliably carry out orders handed down to them by the Sous Chef and Head Chef. This position is entry level and will be expected to have basic knowledge and will be trained to grow their abilities, as such this person should be eager to learn and grow.

An ideal candidate can utilize this to fulfill their curriculum requirements. If finished with culinary school or looking to enter pastry, this role is additionally suitable.

• The pastry apprentice’s primary role is to oversee the polishing of chocolate molds, preparation, boxing of chocolates; as well as preparing and mis en place of other pastry related projects
• Boxing and packaging of pastry products for retail and events
• Work efficiently to organize and stay on track with their production in a timely fashion
• Assist with daily pastry kitchen prep work and station set-up prior to service and maintaining the highest quality food preparation standards
• Duties associated with this role: preparing, cooking, and presenting culinary dishes; enforcing strict health and hygiene standards in the kitchen; and trouble-shooting any problems that may arise
• Works with chefs to maintain retail levels of pastry related products
• Wash dishes and participate in cleaning duties.

• Experience in culinary industry
• Enrolled in culinary school or graduated is a plus
• Serv-Safe Certified
• Demonstrates strong ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to establish direction, obtain commitment and execute appropriate logistical processes
• Comfortable dealing with guests and purveyors on a daily basis
• Exceptional attention to detail, and passionate about food and wine
• Must thrive in a fast-paced working environment
• Have a calm and approachable demeanor
• Superb time management and organizational skills
• COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption

Pay Range: $19.00 - $20.00 an hour. Final compensation dependent on skills and experience.
