Part-time Tutor for Student Support Services - English, Math, Science
Job description
Tutors report to the Director of Student Support Services (SSS). 1) Tutors are responsible for providing individual and group tutoring to student participants in the SSS program. 2) Tutors work in cooperation with SSS staff and NMJC professors to provide instruction to student participants for academic persistence and success. 3) Tutors must reinforce classroom instruction, encourage academic progress and performance, and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning, and 4) Nothing contained herein shall limit the president in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified, in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.
Professional part-time tutors must have a thorough knowledge of the subject area. (Example: Math, Science or English). A strong sense of personal responsibility and commitment to success is essential. Excellent communication and teaching skills is essential. Student tutors must have previously earned an A or B in the subject area they tutor and have a recommendation from their professor. NOTE: Computer proficiency is required.
Tutor positions to be filled - English (2 positions), Math (2 positions), Science (2 positions). Tutoring hours vary between Monday-Friday 8AM - 5PM
