Part Time Tech Assistant

THIS JOB DESCRIPTION IS A GUIDELINE AND IS NOT INCLUSIVE OF ALL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualifications: High School Diploma or higher
 Experience with basic technology troubleshooting
 Pursuing a career in technology-related jobs through job-related certification and training and/or accredited higher learning institutions like community colleges or universities

Reports To: Technology Manager

Location: District 89 Elementary School

Terms of Employment: 10 months –Part-Time: No Benefits

Job Goal: This position will consist of assisting all students and teachers with basic technology troubleshooting. Candidate will be housed at one of two middle school locations.

Duties and  Works as part of a team to coordinate planning, scheduling and executing
Responsibilities: computer equipment installations.

 Maintains school inventory of technology devices
 Supports implementation of new computer software
 Is current with latest technology and software trends
 Assists staff and students with tech support
 Enhances skills by earning certification endorsements in technology field
 Preserves the confidentiality of all students, parents/guardians and employees
 Performs such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Technology Department
 Handles calls, emails and helpdesk tickets that come in for assigned school
 If time allows, assist other technicians with projects that could require help to reduce work load
 Staff and student password reset support
 Troubleshoot staff and student devices
 Install, test, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot end user peripheral devices, technology hardware, (printers, Smartboards, document cameras etc.)
 Provides end user support, assistance on operation issues;
 Performs basic Troubleshooting tasks
 Assists administration with state testing, while also providing tech support for any issues that arise.
 Assign tickets for level 1 PC technicians
 Assists in planning, scheduling and executing computer equipment installations, upgrades and replacement projects
 Installs and supports common applications such as anti-virus software
 Creates student accounts for online access
 Implementing a Personal Development Plan, which includes:

 Watching online classes through ITPRO.TV
 Self-studying to increase knowledge and job awareness
 Taking certification exams to gain certifications and progress to higher tech levels.

 Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Technology Manager and Instructional Technology
Coordinator.

Essential Functions:  Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written form;
 Ability to work independently and multi-task in an unsupervised environment;
 Ability to respond effectively to oral and written direction;
 Ability to work as part of a team;
 Ability to learn and use additional technology (i.e. Smart Boards);
 Ability to assist the staff and students to use hardware and software efficiently.

Evaluation:  Performance of this position will be evaluated by the Technology Manager on an annual basis.
