Parks Maintenance Worker- Seasonal

Under general supervision and instruction this position assists in the maintenance of county parks and facilities.

Qualifications/Knowledge:

• Must have current valid driver's license and ability to obtain license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
• Must have some experience in operation of tractors, mowers, hand and power tools a Knowledge of park and grounds maintenance methods and materials
• Knowledge of playground maintenance principles
• Knowledge of athletic field maintenance principles
• Skill in the use of hand and power tools
• Skill in the use of a variety of grounds maintenance tools and equipment
• Skill in problem solving
• Skill in interpersonal relations
• Skill in oral and written communication

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs janitorial duties; cleans and restocks restrooms
• Participates in the maintenance of county parks, athletic fields and related facilities; performs turf management duties; prepares athletic fields for play
• Trims, removes and provides care for trees, bushes and ornamental plants
• Installs and maintains landscaping
• Removes litter and debris from playgrounds, parking lots, pavilions and other park facilities
• Assists in the repair and maintenance of swimming pools and water parks
• Ensures work is performed in compliance with all relevant rules and regulations
• Maintains inventory and reorders supplies as needed
• Assists in preparing for tournaments, special events and programs
• Performs minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs
• Performs all other related duties as assigned
