General Description:
Performs any combination of the following instructional tasks the In-School Suspension Classroom by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide supervision for students who are assigned to the In-School Suspension classroom.
- Review in-school suspension policies, procedures, and student expectations with students daily.
- Work with students to complete reflection on issues such as behavior management and the prevention of undesirable behaviors that resulted in students being assigned to ISS.
- Monitor all ISS assignments; provide encouragement and feedback to students, monitor tests, computer work and provide instructional assistance as appropriate.
- Ensure students are supervised when students change locations.
- Contact teachers for work requests as needed.
- Supervise lunchtime in the ISS room.
- Refer behavior problems to the school Administrator.
- Maintain professionalism with regard to confidentiality, dress, communication, and behavior.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
- Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education, Training, and Experience Requirement:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); as well as a passing score on ParaPro if one does not hold an Associate’s Degree or two years of post-secondary coursework.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to push items of 50 pounds such as pushing a child on a bike or swing, or moving/rearranging furniture. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
