The Paramedic Technician functions semi-independently, under the direction of the director, RN, C, as part of the integrated healthcare team. Knowledge and necessary skills will be utilized to effectively meet the needs of .Must possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public. Requires the ability to effectively plan; must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given.Requires enthusiasm, initiative and the ability to work independently/cooperatively with other personnel. Requires the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands/deadlines.

The transfer center is located at the West Boca Medical Center Satellite Emergency Center in Coconut Creek.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an EMT-P training course approved in Florida

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Associate Degree, Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in pre-hospital/emergency medical service, CCEMT-P

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Previous work experience in an Emergency Room.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: ADHS Paramedic Certificationor FloridaState Certified.

REQUIRED COURSE(S) TRAINING: Knowledge of the principles of growth and development and the ability to assess data and identify patients' age-specific requirements and provide age-appropriate care is required.Splinting, EKG and Chest Tube competencies, as well as all other department check off lists must be completed within three months of hire.Triage course must be completed prior to 6 months and prior to taking the triage assignment.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: BLS.'
