Job description
The Body Shop Painter’s Helper works closely with the Body Shop Painter to refinish damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership quality specifications and time standards.
The Body Shop Painter Helper ensures the painting process is smooth and efficient. To do this well, they must display great work ethics, project a "can do" attitude, have excellent attention to detail and take pride in the final result. This role provides great work experience and the foundation and fundamentals to advance to Body Shop Painter.
Essential Functions/Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Keep work area clean and safe
- Prepare work area for painter
- Prepare paint and vehicles to be painted
- Sand, prime, fill, mask and wrap vehicle
- Apply paper and tape to protect surfaces that don’t need to be painted such as windows, trim and bumpers
- Move cars into spray booth
- Apply touch up paint and operate spray equipment
- Performs incidental or preparatory work such as holding or supplying tools or materials
- Performs other duties per painter’s request
Education and Experience:
- Attended or currently attending a collision program preferred
- I-CAR certifications preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and kneeling operating machinery
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Constantly exposed to a noisy environment in the body shop
- Constantly exposed to chemicals, paint
