Job Summary:
PACKAGER I is responsible for assisting the Machine Operator I / II with daily operations to meet production schedules assigned to the department by Supervisor daily.

Essential Functions of the Job:

• Perform duties in department as assigned by the Machine Operator on a day by day or task by task basis.
• Bagging of 25 to 50 pound bags of sunflower product on a continuous basis.
• Load and unload tandem trucks at elevators or storage sites.
• Report any unusual events or occurrences to Supervisor Immediately
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by Supervisor/Machine Operator
• Maintain assigned work and warehouse areas at the highest possible sanitation level daily.
• Ensure all assigned paperwork is completed correctly daily.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma / GED

• Candidate must possess working knowledge of Electronic Scales, Packaging Filling Equipment, Sewing Machines, Calculator, Pressurized Steam Cleaners, and Forklift.
• Candidate Must perform tasks in accordance with SunOpta’s GMP Policies and Procedures and all Food and Safety Procedures.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Position involves lifting more than 50 pounds on a frequent and continuous basis while bagging. At times- working in areas that are not heated or air conditioned.Working in dusty conditions/grain dust. Climbing stairways and ladders to monitor processing equipment, bin storage and load trucks on driveway or storage sites. Frequent Bending, Stooping, and Twisting.Able to stand for long periods of time.
