Surgical Ward Nurse - Overnights

This is an entry level position where you will be trained and utilized to provide support for the surgical nurses and doctors. Salary range: $19 - $25 / hour

Duties include:

• Provide patient care for post-operative patients and patient wards. This includes walking patients with assistance, checking bandages, obtaining vital signs, monitoring pain/comfort levels, feeding, checking IV catheters for patency and administering oral and intravenous injections.
• Laundry
• Cleaning dishes
• Be able to at any moment effectively communicate patient needs to doctors, supervisors, and nursing staff
• Promote continuity of care for all patients to the best of your ability
• Assure that clients and patients are being appropriately cared for

Skills and Qualifications:

• Previous veterinary experience requested or 6 months experience in a veterinary hospital setting.
• Able to solve medical math equations and administer drugs intravenously and orally
• Excellent communication skills, time management, ability to problem solve, learn and handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to anticipate and be detail oriented due to high level of patient care.
• Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 50 pounds and work on feet most of the day.

Applicants being considered for hire must pass a drug test before beginning work after receiving an offer of employment. This ten panel drug test does not include testing for THC (Marijuana). Applicants will be required to complete online paperwork authorizing the drug test and will be directed to choose a Quest Diagnostics facility convenient to them. Upon receipt of the results, a hiring decision will be made. A positive finding without an acceptable explanation may result in withdrawal of the offer of employment.
