Orrville - Ice Cream Hardening Room Helper/Team Lead

Job Description

  • Lead daily huddle meeting with a focus to improve our KPI’s
  • Will instruct and coordinate the activities/job assignments of team members
  • Will have all responsibilities related to this position (crew direction)
  • Uphold standards in operating mechanisms with regards to deviations,

incidents, and problem solving

  • Must train and ensure teams adhere to all state and federal regulations in the

areas of Safety, Food Safety Quality, GMP’s and Productivity and communicate
to Group Leader

  • Train and ensure all company and customer standards are followed
  • Work with team and Group Leader to continuously improve and uphold Safety,

Food Safety Quality, GMP’s and Productivity

  • Ensure work team follows the continuous improvement framework and

structures including weekly Improvement Discussions, A3 Problem Solving,
communicate identification of issues and resolution reporting, and weekly
touch-base meetings with group leader

  • Develop a culture of problem identification, data based problem solving

decision making at the level of execution, and accelerating continuous
improvement within work areas

  • Primary liaison between team members and group leader
  • Will work primarily in ice cream load-out and hardening room.
  • Will need to learn all aspects of ice cream load-out including picking, sorting, novelty shipments, racking and loading, and paperwork.
  • Will need to learn skidding deck, crane operation, Blue Yonder inventory system, and storage.
  • May rotate between skidding deck, crane, picking and racking.
  • May be required to work in ice cream production.
  • *Will work in the fluid and cultured department and warehouse department on a seasonal basis.
  • Must be willing to cross train and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to learn and perform described duties and assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Must be highly motivated, a self-starter, and work well with others.
  • Must have a commitment to quality.
  • Must have or obtain tow motor certification.
  • Will be expected to learn and actively participate in activities designed to enhance SmithFoods lean process.
  • Must be able to handle cold temperatures and heavy lifting up to 60 lb pallets.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $23.02 per hour
