Summary:

Operations Instructor will be capable of teaching the (Basic, Mid-Level and Advanced Operations courses), DRAKE/JCREW, and Visual Information.

Essential Job Functions:

• Must have experience training in a military and/or civilian mariner environment.
• Shall be required to teach, maintain and update the Basic and Advanced Operations courses.
• Shall be located/teach at the MSC/MUTC/TCHR Government operated or contracted training facilities in Hampton Roads.
• May be required to instruct the Basic Operations course, Visual Information, and DRAKE/JCREW training courses in San Diego, CA and onboard MSC GOGO and GOCO ships around the world.
• Instruction will be at either Little Creek, VA; Norfolk, VA; FT Eustis VA; or San Diego, CA at a secure facility.
• Shall be subject matter experts on all material and equipment taught in the Operations training courses, Visual Information and DRAKE/JCREW courses upon assignment.

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to convey technical information to non-technical “generalist” audiences
• Demonstrated ability to work on projects and issues within overall policy guidelines
• Ability to manage stakeholder consultations on product drafts.
• Advanced proficiency across the Microsoft 365 suite, including Excel, Forms, OneDrive, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Word

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Maritime discipline plus six (6) years as licensed Merchant Mariner Deck Officer 2nd officer or higher with shipboard operations experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations, Education or Management plus six (6) years with US Navy Department Head Tactical Action Officer experience, or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations, Education or Management with six (6) years of documented experience as a Navy Surface Warfare Officer with Combat Information Center Watch Office or Tactical Action Officer experience.
