Job Summary
Assistant to a professor in the History Department. Assistance will be in the areas of administrative, classroom, research, and mobility. Duties will include: Proofreading and copying exams/quizzes; entering grades and attendance, maintaining decorum in the classroom, preparation of forms, reading various items/documents aloud, assistancing with online activities, proctoring exams/quizzes, managing classroom technonogly during class, proofreading professional writing; retrieving books and articles from the library; dictation. This person must be reliable, be able to maintain confidentiality, be flexible, and detail oriented. This person must have effective reading and proofreading skills. Schedule is somewhat flexible, however classroom time is a priority, with final discretion given to the professor. This person assists the professor in all administrative aspects however is not responsible for decision making in student, department, or university matters. Technology literacy and willingness to learn are strong preferences.
Required Qualifications
Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; effective proofreading skills
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with university procedures; organized and detail oriented; able to read printed English materials aloud in a clear and articulate manner; able to maintain confidentiality
Hiring Range
$16 to $18 per hour

Weekdays, Variable hours, as assigned; Approximately 24 hour/week, with 2 months off during the summer and 2 weeks off during winter break
