GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Nutrition Care Coordinator works as an integral part of the health care/food service management team of Eating Disorders Treatment Program.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all duties of the Nutrition Care Assistant as below:
- Assist Clinical Dietitian for the Eating Disorders Center with nutritional management for low risk patients, monitoring menu selections, corrections and overall food service operations for the Center
- Interfaces directly and effectively with the Nutrition Team to resolve issues concerning the overall food service operations
- Works with the Clinical Dietitian in the quality assurance program of the Department and the hospital
- Plans and prepare cooking of meals, including recipe development
- Works with Clinical Dietitian to help plan restaurant activities with the patients and assists with nutritional education by running weekly nutrition group
- Completes weekly food and supply ordering with other nutrition staff
- Responsible for taking regular inventory and managing inventory system for Nutrition Department
- Demonstrates a commitment to professional growth and competence
- Contributes to the productivity and cost effectiveness of the Eating Disorders Unit
- Works with Nutrition Care Assistant(s) on daily cleaning tasks and responsible for oversite of weekly nutrition cleaning schedule
In addition to:
- Scheduling shifts for Nutrition Care Assistant(s)
- Responsible for directing CRCs about meals, nutrition care, food safety guidelines/
- Train Nutrition Care Assistant(s) and CRCs around dietary/nutrition duties; food safety protocols
- Is an integral part of administering the majority of the food service services of the program

Qualifications - External
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completed at least a 2-year Associate’s Degree OR two years of a 4-year nutrition program at a US regionally accredited college or university.
Prior healthcare experience required.
National Restaurant Association ServSafe Certification preferred.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Requires competence in both written and verbal communication. Ability to organize and set priorities, ability to concentrate on details in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and as a “go to” person for any nutrition/food related issues.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Psychiatric patient care unit with interruptions inherent in this type of work setting.
