The Nurse Manager schedules, assigns, and reviews work of all ancillary staff, provides staff training, conducts performance evaluations, provides direct patient care when needed and responds to medical emergencies. Other duties include, but are not limited to: participation in Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement activities, making recommendations on departmental Policy and Procedures and collaboration with the Director of Nursing to ensure unit compliance with New Jersey State Department of Health, Patient Centered Medical Home and Joint Commission requirements. The nurse manager attends monthly meetings for nursing, departmental and management teams.

Responsibilities:

1. Provides nursing care including: administration of medications, subcutaneous, intramuscular and intradermal injections and nebulizer treatments to patients as directed by the providers.

2. Monitors patient flow and, in the case of patient overflow, assists Medical Assistants in preparation of examination rooms, preparation of patients for exam, and taking of vital signs of patients. Performs other routine procedures (i.e., weighing and measuring), as necessary.

3. Orders routine medical supplies; reorders supplies through established purchasing procedures, and maintains adequate levels.

4. Keeps a record of the ancillary staff’s sick, personal and vacation time.

5. Facilitates a monthly staff meeting with ancillary staff.

6. Maintains updated file of referrals and provides referral information to providers.

7. Triage calls from Call Center and walk-in patients for the office.

8. Assures that adequate coverage is provided to providers and office sessions.

9. Works evenings and on Saturday shifts as needed.

10. Rotates to other sites as needed in the absence of the Nurse Manager.

11. Provides direct and/or indirect patient care oriented toward improving or maintaining health and preventing illness.

12. Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies provider of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.

13. Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Provider and CAMCARE HEALTH CORPORATION policy including patient and family instruction.

14. Maintains electronic nursing desktop.

15. Anticipates potential safety concerns in the environment of care and intervene.

Leadership:

  • Supervises all nursing functions at the health care site assigned including immediate supervision of Medical Assistants to assure conformance with established standards and procedural requirements.
  • Participates in monthly nursing, management and quality assurance meetings as required
  • Assists the Director of Nursing and Chief Medical Officer on matters relating to nursing practices and participates in development of policies and protocols for patient care.
  • Provides leadership in the development of standards of care, patient/family education and staff education to address the needs of specific populations.
  • Guides the professional growth of others through preceptor, role modeling, coaching and/or mentoring.
  • Provides leadership at a unit level for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes for populations of patients and growth of others.
  • Participates in CAMCARE HEALTH CORPORATION collaborative quality improvement activities and develops Plan-Do-Study-Acts.
  • Reports any patient or staff issues to Director of Nursing or designee.

Education and Experience:

  • 2-4 years experience as Nurse Manager
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a variety of professionals, ancillary, and administrative personnel
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Associates Degree in related field required.
  • Bachelor’s of Science (RN’s) preferred or other related bachelors degree.
  • 3 – 5 years nursing experience in medical center or community health care settings.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Active State of New Jersey RN license required
  • Basic Life Support is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,593.00 - $84,938.00 per year
