Now Hiring Part-time: Janitorial Building Services Assistant
Job description
The Rescue Mission is now seeking a Part-time Building Services Assistant to provide janitorial services on the Main Campus in Syracuse, NY. The schedule for this position is Sunday through Thursday 7am - 12pm with Fridays and Saturdays off. The Building Services Assistant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of Rescue Mission facilities and the surrounding grounds.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain building interior by cleaning floors, walls, windows, and furniture in addition to dusting furniture and fixtures.
- Collect and remove trash and recycling daily.
- Clean and maintain restrooms.
- Change air filters and clean vents.
- Disinfect touch points and hard surfaces. General knowledge of chemicals used for daily cleaning.
- Operate equipment including but not limited to: auto scrubbers, kaivac machines, wet vacs and other related equipment.
- Maintains exterior by picking up trash, raking leaves, removing branches and general grounds cleanup; including mowing lawns. Cleans exterior windows and washes walls as needed.
- Maintains building accessibility by removing snow and other obstacles. Salt as needed.
- Notify supervisors of unsafe conditions and/or or takes the initiative to correct unsafe conditions.
- Maintain cleaning inventory, placing orders for new products when needed.
- Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing all assigned tasks in a productive manner, focusing on quality workmanship.
- Accomplishes goals set both individually and by the team.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of the job.
- Promotes a safety-first attitude by setting a positive example and ensuring all employees are following safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED Certificate preferred.
- Prior building service, janitorial, housekeeping/cleaning experience preferred.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License in compliance with company driving criteria.
- Must follow CDC guidelines regarding Covid-19 up to, but not limited to, wearing a mask/face covering when working.
- Full vaccination against Covid-19, including booster (when eligible) are strongly encouraged.
