On July 1, 2018, Johnson State College and Lyndon State College joined to become Northern Vermont University-Johnson and Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, a two-campus institution of higher education that combines the best of our nationally recognized liberal arts and professional programs. Northern Vermont University-Lyndon and Northern Vermont University-Johnson are critical components of Vermont's higher-education infrastructure. Together they enroll nearly 3,000 students annually, and are main economic drivers and cultural centers in the northern tier of Vermont.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide students with an understanding of degree planning, policies and procedures, and an awareness of the supports/resources available.
- Use academic coaching techniques to help students clarify their goals, and to facilitate meaningful discussions about the purpose of a college education, values, skills, personal interest, potential career interests, and how these pursuits connect to his/her degree program.
- Help students develop strategies for being successful in an online program and capacities for navigating online registration, academic alerts, adding/dropping classes, class selection planning, etc.
- Build strong and meaningful relationships with students through regular communication.
- Be available for general advising and on-demand advising as needed (academic, career, major exploration, etc). This may be done through email, chat, phone, in-person, desktop conferencing, et.al.
- Create and utilize a tracking and communications plan for monitoring students' academic progress.
- Confer regularly with supervisor, department/University personnel, and relevant outside organizations/individuals to plan, coordinate and evaluate programs/projects, exchange information, resolve problems, etc.
- Perform other related duties, as necessary, and as assigned.

- Good understanding of higher education organizational structure and administrative operations.
- Excellent planning, organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with instructors, students, and other departments throughout the University.
- Highly motivated self-starter with excellent time management skills.
