Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a North America R&D EH&S Specialist based in Johnston, IA.

Responsibilities:

• Safety Resource as part of the North America R&D Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) team, partnering with field R&D locations to ensure that policies, procedures, and practices are operational and effective to eliminate/minimize injury, illnesses, property damage, environmental impacts and to comply with all applicable regulations, policies, and practices.
• Interpret and provide information on laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
• Administer environmental, health, and safety programs, conduct employee training, and complete risk management assessments in the areas of safety, Industrial Hygiene, and environmental management.
• Support location in record-keeping of Occupational Safety & Health programs.
• Review, interpret and implement the Corteva safety, Environmental and industrial hygiene programs for compliance with applicable local and regional EH&S regulations.
• Develop and implement department specific safety policies/programs.
• Partner with facilities and consult with Risk Management, site safety committee, EH&S networks, and employees to identify unsafe working conditions and develop appropriate controls or alternatives.
• Assist location management with interpretation and implementation of all facets of risk management work.
• Provide EH&S “energy” to the department, demonstrated by frequent and consistent communication about the importance of safety & risk management efforts.
• Drive simplification in partnership with our R&D location in order to build a world class safety culture.
  

Qualifications

Requirements:

• You have a bachelor's degree or higher.
• You have 5+ years of experience working with the agricultural industry (equivalent relevant experience and education will be considered).
• You have excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
• With your coaching & leadership skills, you can build trust and rapport with employees to achieve a strong safety culture.
• You have high-level computer abilities.
• You have a high attention to detail.
• You are a proactive problem-solver, able to make decisions in time sensitive conditions.

Preferences:

• You are fluent in both Spanish and English
• You have OSHA 10-hr or 30-hr training certification.
• You are trained on Workplace Safety: Knowledge of First Aid, CPR, and AED skills and certification; thorough knowledge of safety regulations.
• You are trained on Industrial hygiene: Thorough knowledge of basic industrial hygiene and industrial hygiene hazards and regulations.
• You are aware of Environmental Regulations: Awareness of applicable environmental policies, standards, guidelines, regulations, and local requirements.
