Job description

The Certified Athletic Trainer will oversee the operation and maintenance of the Athletic Training Room and will be the first point of contact in the event that the need for care arises.

The trainer will educate athletes on the prevention of severe injury, conduct an initial assessment of an athlete's injury or illness in order to further provide emergency or continued care, and determine whether the athlete should be referred to physicians for definitive diagnosis and treatment.

The trainer will evaluate athletes' readiness to play and provide participation clearances when necessary and warranted.

The trainer will apply their full knowledge and skillset to address the care, prevention, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries to our athletes and liaise with our coaching and athletics administration staff regarding athlete progress.

The trainer will document all care given to each athlete who receives care in the Athletic Training room, and will recommend purchases, maintenance, and repair of equipment and supplies, as deemed appropriate.

The trainer must attend all home and away football games and is required to be at all home sporting events. The athletic trainer will guide, teach and mentor a team of student athletic trainers, so there will be additional help at the games.

At the conclusion of all home games and practices, the trainer will clean up all outdoor treatment area(s) and the athletic training room. The trainer will be responsible for re-stocking supplies, clean water coolers, and jugs for the next day.

The trainer will oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which activities are conducted, or students are located at all times that members are present.

The athletic trainer will serve as a first responder for home athletic events when the need for medical attention arises.
