English Position Summary:
The English teacher will have the primary responsibility for planning, programming, and teaching middle school and high school English courses in alignment with the school’s curricular objectives. The English teacher will be responsible for establishing a positive, encouraging, and appropriate relationship with students in which they are both held to high standards and supported in their attempts to meet them. A love of students and complete dedication to their success, combined with a passion for language arts, effective professional skills, a positive, team-centered personality, and a dedication to life-long learning are all necessary for teaching success at Sagemont Prep. Our future innovative educator must also be compassionate, patient, observant, detail-oriented, creative, have a sense of humor, and think outside the box.

Position Responsibilities:

• Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
• Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
• Facilitate activities and projects that incorporate communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
• Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement.
• Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
• Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the community.
• Participate in training and professional development
• Dedicated to ensuring curriculum and assessments are rigorous and meaningful, with tailored formative assessments to provide frequent feedback on student comprehension.
• Ability to monitor student progress and report information in a timely manner
• Knowledge of encouraging students to be global citizens and active members of our local communities, linguistically and culturally.
• Desire to continue professional development
• Experience teaching Advanced Placement courses is preferred
• Create an environment that fosters a growth mindset.
• Strong proficiency in utilizing educational technology and Google Suite to enhance the learning environment
• An ability and enthusiasm for promoting the school and its mission to a broad and diverse group of people.
• Excellent work ethic, positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to grow as an educator.

Essential Skills & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree required with FL Teacher Certification in subject area, Master’s Degree a plus.
Teaching experience or experience in an education related field preferred.
Knowledge of school policies and procedures.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to effectively train others; emphasis on excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to provide superior customer service with emphasis on communication.
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to plan and organize work.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to be trained to use school designated Electronic Gradebook, Instructional software, etc.
