Duties:
A Member Service Representative (MSR) is the link between our members/prospective members and the credit union’s products and services. MSR’s are trusted advisors for our members and must have exceptional service and sales skills to proactively build strong relationships. MSR’s must be dedicated to continually improving their product knowledge, along with their service and sales skills, in order to provide value to our members and prospective members by uncovering needs and recommending solutions. They foster our “United for You” service philosophy while embracing an outstanding member service culture that exceeds member expectations, while contributing to a sales environment that focuses on either closing sales that benefit the member, or referring them to the appropriate credit union employee for closing the sale. In addition, a MSR must be a strong and engaged team member who believes in working together to meet, or exceed, UnitedOne’s mission and strategic goals.
MSR’s work with members and prospective members throughout each day to enhance their relationship with the credit union by providing our “United for You” service philosophy. “MSR’s proactively monitor the activity of the branch and telephone queue to insure goals and standards are met and UnitedOne’s policies and procedures are followed. MSR’s determine eligibility for membership, open new accounts, process and close loans using TIPS action steps (if licensed), respond to member inquiries, recommend solutions, and close sales. MSR’s must be competent well-trained employees who can accurately and quickly process transactions and requests. Each MSR must ensure proper follow-up with members to address concerns, thank them for their business, and follow through on quality leads and activities generated through referrals and other sources. MSR’s must use Synapsys to document relationship calls and other information in order to strengthen member relationships and increase services per member. MSR’s must have strong interpersonal skills to work effectively and diplomatically with a diverse group of members in various degrees of sensitive, confidential, and sometimes stressful situations.
Responsible for compliance with all laws and regulations pertaining to MSR operations. Submit reports, forms, and maintain supporting documents, as required. Minimize the risk of doing business by following sound practices, exercising good judgment and following established procedures.
Requirements:
- Must possess exceptional oral and written communications skills in a professional businesslike demeanor.
- Must possess strong listening skills and be able to focus, paraphrase, and empathize, with others.
- Must possess comprehensive knowledge of products and services and ability to match them with member needs.
- Must effectively uncover member needs by using high impact questions (as taught in CML Sales Strategies) and offer products and services that provide value to the member/prospective members.
- Must possess exceptional member service and sales skills with an emphasis on exceeding expectations.
- Must possess an enthusiastic, positive attitude and work ethic and genuinely enjoy working with people.
- Must provide the “United for You” service philosophy consistently.
- Must be a strong and active member of a service and sales team and believe in collaboration.
- Must maintain personal responsibility and offer solutions. follow through to ensure satisfaction.
- Must maintain confidentiality, be security conscious, and pay close attention to details.
- Knowledge of MSR operations and the Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Must work effectively and possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
