Looking to join a rapidly growing company? MEnD Correctional Care is seeking a PART TIME Medication/Health Technician to join the team and our organization in Detroit Lakes MN at the Becker County Jail!


Candidates must enjoy working with an under-served population and be willing to work in a county correctional facility where patient and staff safety is of high importance. The Lead Medical Clinic Technician Assistant will provide care under the direction and supervision of the Supervisory Nurse, Nursing Director, and Medical Provider.


Work Schedule:

  • Rotating Weekends (Sat, Sun)
  • Holidays
  • 8 hour shifts

Job Duties:

  • Provides care under the direction of the medical staff. These cares may include vitals, simple dressing/treatments, assistance with inmate ADL’s when necessary, reporting information to nurse on-call, assisting with sick call visits with inmates. Additional treatments and cares may be assigned based on Health Tech’s licensure, credentials, and skillset.
  • Assists with the operation of equipment, preventative maintenance, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment/techniques.
  • Provides information by answering questions and requests by staff, inmates, and outside sources.
  • Assists with supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Completes assigned tasks given by medical staff as well as tasks in line with the duties of the position.
  • Responsible for medication passes for self-administration of medications by jail inmates.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and stocking of items in the medication cart and other areas associated with administration of medications to the inmate population.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publication, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by being a dependable member of the MEnD team, assisting with expansion of the MEnD jail health philosophy, and occasionally going “above and beyond” typical job duties.

Skills:

  • Preferred - Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or similar classes.
  • Experience in a similar or related field. This includes other medical settings and/or correctional care.
  • Must be able to work independently in an environment with locked doors, inmate populations, security on multiple levels, and be able to document, with precision, all duties preformed.
  • Organization, professionalism, problem-solving, supply management, Inventory control, verbal communication, and team work are all a must in this position.
Requirements:
  • Medication Technician/Nursing Assistant class or equivalent job experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) Certified preferred
